In
this part of the world, mobile data volumes are quite expensive and take a
reasonable amount of our daily, weekly or monthly budget. In order to save more
money, there is the need to cut down on the cost of anything we purchase. Data
is something you can spend less on and still enjoy its full use. But you have
to press the right buttons. So, I have sampled these methods that will help you consume
less data with your android device:
1. Data Saving Mode
On Android 7.0 and above, you can
automatically activate the data saving mode by following these steps.
- Go
to setting.
- Tap Network & Internet
- Click data usage.
- Click data saver.
- Turn
on Data saver.
When data saver mode is turned on,
you will see the data saver icon on your status bar.
2. Set mobile data usage warning
or limit
This enables you to see how much data
you’re utilizing and gives you a warning once your data usage has reached its
limit. Remember, you have to set the limit. To set a mobile data usage warning,
follow these steps:
- Go
to setting.
- Click Network & Internet
- Click data usage.
- Click
the setting icon at the top right corner of your device.
- Enter
a number. To switch between megabytes (MB) and gigabytes (GB), click the
downward arrow.
- Click set.
When your usage reaches the level you
picked, you’ll get a notification. You can also set a limit to automatically
turn off mobile data when your device has used a certain amount of mobile
data. Please, note that some features won’t work when mobile data is turned
off. To set data usage limit, follow these steps:
- Go
to setting.
- Click Network & Internet.
- Click mobile data usage.
- If
it’s not already turned on, turn on set
data limit. Read the on-screen
message and click ok.
- Click data limit.
- Enter
a number. To switch between megabytes (MB) and gigabytes (GB), tap the
downward arrow.
- Click set.
When you reach your limit and
your data automatically turns off, you will be
notified. To turn on your
mobile data again, follow the steps above and turn off set data
limit.
Alternatively, you can resort to turning your data on and off depending on the time you need it. If you think any of these methods won’t work for you, consider getting a third-party app. And I think “Datally” can do the magic.
